Preface
The new version of Borlabs Cookie brings a number of improvements, including the frequently requested automatic package update feature. The update is currently being rolled out to our testers and will be available to all customers from mid-July.
If you would like to participate in the test phase of Borlabs Cookie 3.1, select the topic "Feature request / Package request" in the support form, enter your licence key and let us know the URLs for which we should activate version 3.1 in advance.
New setting: Show Dialog After User Interaction
The new option "Show Dialog After User Interaction" in the dialog settings now allows the dialog to be displayed only after a visitor has interacted with the website. This interaction can take place by scrolling, clicking or pressing a button. If this setting is activated, it has a positive effect on the Web Vitals, but could lead to a poorer user experience.
New Content Blocker preset
When creating a Content Blocker, a new fourth preset "Preset D - Floating Icon" is now available. This preset is particularly suitable for blocked chat icons or trust badges.
Improved navigation in the library
Navigation within the library has been improved. From the package details view, it is now possible to return to the previous library view while keeping all filters and search terms unchanged. This is particularly useful if several installed packages need to be updated manually and you frequently switch between the package details and the overview.
New feature: Automatic package update
With version 3.1, it is now possible to automatically update packages from the library. This makes work easier, especially for those who maintain several websites with many packages.
Settings
As planning and control are important for many, automatic package updates can be scheduled. You can specify whether a package should be updated after 24 hours or on a specific day of the week at a specific time.
E-mail about outstanding updates
If one or more automatic package updates are planned or if new package updates are available for which automatic updating is deactivated, an email is sent in advance with all the information about the outstanding updates. The recipients of this e-mail can be configured via the library settings. It is not possible to deactivate this e-mail; at least one recipient e-mail address must always be stored.
Package details settings
The settings for the automatic update are available in the details of a package after successful installation. If an automatic update is scheduled for the package, the time is displayed in the "Update" area above the "Update" button, as shown in the screenshot.
In the "Auto Update Settings" section, you can specify whether the code or translation should be overwritten with the data from the package or whether the currently stored code or translation should remain unchanged. We generally recommend using the code and translation from our package and activating this option. However, if, for example, the HTML of a content blocker has been customised or formulations have been changed, the option can be deactivated.
We recommend that you read the information under the respective info icons and in the "Things to know" section.
Automatic update symbol
In the package overview, the icon shows whether automatic updating has been activated for a package. The following screenshot shows that automatic updating is activated for the Elementor package, but not for the Flickr package.
New view: Jobs
In order to better understand what Borlabs Cookie automatically performs or plans to perform in the background, you can view all planned and past jobs in the new "Jobs" view. This view can be accessed under the Borlabs Cookie menu item System » Jobs.
